Zhang Xiaogang was born in Kunming, Yunnan China. Zhang is known for paintings of contemporary and surrealist. consisted mostly monochromatic painting portraits, Chinese-style, usually with big eyes, a dark-pupiled family portrait, posing stiffly deliberately reminiscent of the 1950s and '60s.
